What is a failed event?

The idea of embracing failed events maybe unusual to some people. Depending on the context in which a failed event is discussed and on whom you ask, you will receive examples of failure theory that include mechanical or static failure theory; phenomenological failure theory; market failure theory; normative failure theory of law; strain invariant failure theory; reproductive failure theory; Weibull failure theory; Keynesian failure theory; digestive failure theory; or Tsai-Wu failure theory. Although one or more of these may be appropriate for some applications, we would like to share a theoretical basis for failed events that focuses on behaviorism and socialization. At this point, we feel strongly that we are not interpreted as we view failed events simply as a natural step to success and simply by persisting, one can always achieve. Indeed, the Little Train that could, or That Little Ol' Ant may be popular nursery rhymes, although as adults, we would imagine all of us have failed repeatedly without ultimately succeeding as times a perceived notion of nothing to show for our efforts. Our point is that none of that really matters - the beginning, the journey, the end, the accomplishments, or lack thereof. We believe that possessing an ideology of constantly searching out opportunities which we are curious about, and have some belief that after engaging in the phenomenon, we will become closer to our own personal definition of life… of living. We make the assumption that most folks will want the most of their limited time, of life and therefore to get the most, we need to fail as failed events provide us the most return on our investment. When we succeed, especially when success is achieved quickly, the experience lacks depth and most importantly the jagged edges, from which we can attach subsequent connections to our life. These edges, or ‘sticky’ unresolved aspects of life, may be the only real things that we have in life. They are the mortar that helps us connect everything else, that we place importance on – the material which allows us to build our own yellow brick road. So, what is our operational definition of a failed event? To us, a failed event is life – a rich, convoluted life experience, where we embrace the opportunity for vagueness, uncertainty and for the unresolveable.
